Yes, you do need to assign a storage server to your portal. Without a storage server, portal members are not able to transfer, submit or share files and folders.

To assign a storage server to your portal, do the following:
  1. In the Configuration Console, select Storage. On the Storage page, you'll see a list of storage servers that you've added. (If you haven't added a storage server, click Add and follow the prompts. Refer to the online help for more detailed instructions on adding a storage server.)
  2. Highlight the server you want to assign, click the options button and select Assign.
  3. Click Save Changes.
