Auto Delivery

How do I enable Auto Delivery on my Share portal?
There are three parts to enabling Auto Delivery:
  1. The administrator must enable Auto Delivery for a Share portal.
    1. Navigate to the Ops Admin console, click General and enable Allow automatic file transfers.
  2. The administrator assigns the Auto Delivery permission to each member.
    1. In the Ops Admin console on the Members page, edit the member and enable Auto Delivery.
  3. A Media Shuttle member enables Auto Delivery by logging into an Auto Delivery-enabled portal, enables Automatic, and then when prompted chooses the desired direction and hot folder (for upload) or destination folder (for download).

Does Auto Delivery work with SAML enabled portals?
Yes, starting with the version 1.3x of the Signiant App.

Is Auto Delivery installed as a service?
No, your members need to be logged on in order for Auto Delivery to work. It only runs when a member is logged onto their computer.

Where is the Auto Delivery subscription information for a member stored?
It is securely stored in the Media Shuttle cloud.

How is a member authenticated for Auto Delivery?
A member must have a valid web session to enable Auto Delivery. With this valid session in place, enabling Auto Delivery creates a special authorization token.

How is the Signiant App authorized for Auto Delivery?
An authorization token is kept with the Signiant App in the .json configuration file and it is used to authenticate the Signiant App for Auto Delivery.

I'm using Media Shuttle with a Signiant Manger and Agents back end. Can I use v1.3?
Yes.

When Auto Delivery is configured for download, what gets downloaded?
When first configured, the Auto Delivery client downloads everything in the member's home folder. Subsequently, the Auto Delivery client only downloads items it has not previously downloaded. It checks every five minutes for 'not previously downloaded' files. Note: the files can be 'old' (i.e. created/modified before the last time it checks and they are still downloaded if 'not previously downloaded').

Where is the Auto Delivery tracking information stored? What is this file called?
This information is stored on the disk of the computer running the Auto Delivery download.
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\Signiant\Manifest\user@example.com\portalid.json
  • OS X: /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Signiant/Manifest/user@example.com/portalid.json
Note: if you disable Auto Delivery, this file is retained so that if later re-enable Auto Delivery, it will not download files that were previously downloaded.

What happens if I erase the 'delta tracking' file?
The Signiant App will download all files from the portal  configured for Auto Delivery download. The 'delta tracking' file is not used by the Auto Delivery upload process - that is based on file events.

How often does the Signiant App check for new files?
For downloads, the Signiant App checks for new files five minutes after it completes an Auto Delivery transfer, and then every five minutes after that. For uploads, the Signiant App detects files immediately.

Can I configure how often the Signiant App checks for new files?
No.
